Dar gracias a Dios es reconocer que no tiene por qué concedernos los dones que nos da. Es sentirse responsable por la confianza que Dios ha depositado en cada uno. Es, por tanto, necesario comprometernos a emplear lo que le pertenece a Dios conforme al plan de Dios, y no según nuestros criterios o caprichos. El plan de Dios, a quien San Juan define como Amor, es que nos amemos, es decir, que busquemos cada uno el bien del otro.

Queremos que nuestra comunidad sea “casa y escuela de comunión”. Un espacio donde se aprenda a compartir con el hermano lo que cada uno es y tiene buscando el bien del otro. La paradoja es que sólo dando se recibe. Sólo entregándonos nos poseemos verdaderamente. Y sólo así vivimos y construimos la comunión.

Que Jesús Eucaristía nos enseñe a dar gracias a Dios con nuestras acciones, con toda nuestra vida. Y que nuestra Madre del Perpetuo Socorro sea nuestra guía y compañera de camino.

In 1921, Academia del Perpetuo Socorro, under the direction of the Redemptorist Fathers and the School Sisters of Notre Dame, was established as a parish school in Miramar. Since that first September, where 49 students in the church sacristy began their studies, 85 years have passed. Thousands of students have been educated in Perpetuo Socorro and today we are very proud to celebrate 85 years of academic excellence within an environment of genuine catholicity. In this 21st century, Perpetuo Socorro is still one of the best educational institutions of Puerto Rico offering an integral education with all that this modern age requires, maintaining at the same time the Christian values that have been part of our education since our first years.

Today, with our director, Father Angel L. Ciappi, only one School Sister of Notre Dame as principal, an excellent and dedicated faculty, we celebrate and thank God for allowing us to be what we are today. We thank Him for the privilege that we have of educating and helping in the formation of the future generations for a better Puerto Rico. We are grateful to so many who came before us, teachers and students, who helped to make of Academia del Perpetuo Socorro the best. To the parents of our present students, who entrust their children to us and help us in this beautiful mission, we say thank you. We also give thanks to our Lord for our children and young people entrusted to our care because they are the reason for our being Perpetuo. Under the protection of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, we celebrate this 85 anniversary and as the psalm we also proclaim: “The Lord has been wonderful to us and we rejoice.”
