History

Academia del Perpetuo Socorro, located in Miramar, Puerto Rico is a K-12 bilingual Catholic parochial college preparatory school pertaining to the Perpetuo Socorro Parish at the Archdiocese of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Christian values are instilled offering within the curriculum and school activities program, meaningful experiences for the students, including religious studies for spiritual growth and academic studies in preparation for the pursuit of a college career.

Academia del Perpetuo Socorro was founded by the Redemptorist Fathers and the School Sisters of Notre Dame. The school was accredited by the Department of Education on May 12, 1925. The first senior graduation was held in June, 1932.

A.P.S. was the first parochial school on the island to receive accreditation from the Middle States Association.

1999

For the first time the entire school (K-12) was evaluated in February, by the Middle States Association in 1999 receiving its accreditation for ten more years. The Visiting Committee found A.P.S. to be effectively advancing the quality of educational experiences offered to its students and also offering strong and varied academic programs that satisfy the needs of students in accordance with our Philosophy and Objectives.

By this year our facilities included the elementary school, the intermediate school, and the high school. On October 17, 2000 a long-awaited dream came true as the new gymnasium, was inaugurated. It was dedicated to Monsignor Armando Álvarez.
